The 3-wire version with halogen-free and cold-resistant outer sheath (according to VDE0472 / Part 815) has an additional core, through the connection of which the body of the XLR connectors can be connected. This connection technology is standard or even mandatory for some TV and radio stations. Of course you can also use this wire to transmit a supply voltage.
